Cheryshev: "I'm happy to have scored the winning goal"

Denis Cheryshev was scorer of the winning goal in Valencia CF's Copa del Rey victory against FC Cartagena. After his stoppage time strike, he spoke to VCF Media.

A tricky match

"We didn't kill the game off when we had the chances. When it was 0-1 we had some very good opportunities to get the second, we didn't do it and they are a very good team. They created their chances and equalised from the penalty. In the end we were able to take the victory."

Scoring the winning goal

"There were only a few minutes to go and it was one of the few chances that remained, and thankfully I was able to score the goal. I am very happy, because we've made it into the Round of 16, which was the important thing for us."

The next match

"Our goal is to win every game. Today we were up against good opposition, and we got the victory. Now we have to focus on the game against Real Madrid, which we we will face with a lot of desire, and we will think about the Copa del Rey later. I think we have to always focus on the next game. Now Real Madrid are coming up, and after that game we will think about what is next. Now we only have to think about Real Madrid, and keep picking up points in order to move up the table."
